Our Mission

2Rapitenques Around The World is the project through which we want to acomplish our dream of traveling around the world. Our purpose is to discover other cultures and bring them closer to our town. Our philosophy is to learn from everything that we will find and at the same time share our idiosyncrasy. We strongly believe that we need to be open minded, tolerant and supportive to reach our objective. (Vane i Eva)

Travel plans

Just try to imagine that one day a friend asked you: where would you go if you would had the chance to do a round the world trip?
This is the question that we were asking ourselves and the answer was as follows...
An exciting search of the itinerary that we planned but that today we have already modified. A year are 12 months, 52 weeks, 356 days and many many hours to be able to modify any arranged plan.
Lots of evening chats, lots of readings through travel guides, lots of articles read about other backpackers... and we believed that was going to be easy and quick to come out with a route! Unquestionably, this is a memory of all the Geography studied in the school during our childhoood . It is a difficult task to match dates, seasons, flights and miles.... but finally we got our final itinerary !
"Fly from Dublin (Ireland) to New Delhi (India , stopover in London.Overland through Nepal, Vietnam, Laos ,Camboya until Thailand .From Bangkok (Thailand) , we will fly to Singapore and then to Cairns (North of Australia). We will make our own way down to Brisbane where we will fly to Sydney (Australia). From Sydney we will fly to Nadi(Fiji) and then from there to Aukcland (New Zeland). From Auckland we will cross the ocean to go to Santiago de Chile , visiting Peru and ending up in Buenos Aires (Argentina) where we will finish our route and we will fly back to Dublin”.
Visited countries: India , Nepal , Vietnam, Laos, Cambodia, Thailand, Singapore, French Polynese , Australia, New Zeland, Chile, Peru and Argentina.
There are several air companies which offer round the world packages for a year with different characteristics and prices. We have selected “World Discovery Plus”. This package includes the 7 stops previously mentioned.
Folks! We already got the tickets! 28.834 miles of adventures and new experiences!
Follow the blog and we´ll be in touch!

2 Rapitenques* around the world

*Rapitenques are the citizens from the Catalonian city Sant Carles de la Rapita.

This story starts with two friends and a dream they wanted to realise.... a round the world trip.
The earth so big and diverse, with a population of approximately 6,626,970,683 humans, with more than 6,500 living languages and 5 continents politically divided within 198 countries has tempted us to discover its beauty and led us to embark on this adventure.
In the course of our travels, our dream is to immerse ourseleves into cultures faraway from our own one, into more diverse and enchanting landscapes , into the genuine traditions of those people who were born thousands and thousands of miles from our own city.
We hope to learn from the different people we meet and we also want to share our own experiences with them.
Altogether this will be a cultural dance between what we are and what will surround us in every town, city, county, nation, continent during our own Ithaca*.
We will travel with an open minded backpack ready to receive the experiences that we are looking for.
Friends, acquaintances, colleagues and family, this won´t only be our trip but also yours, because we strongly believe that this experience needs to be shared.
We are working on this project to ensure that you can follow step by step our trip and to make it possible that you are present in all what we will live and see. Therefore, we need your support to make this happen.
Please note that this is the first article about our adventure. We hope you have enjoyed it and follow the next ones.
See you soon.

*Ithaca
When you leave for Ithaca,
may your journey be long
and full of adventures and knowledge
I hope your road is long.
May there be many a summer morning,
and may ports for the first time seen
bring you great joy
Don't lose sight of Ithaca,
for that's your destination.
But take your time;
better that the journey lasts many a year
and that your boat only drops anchor on the island
when you have grown rich
with what you learned on the way.

Travel poem, "Ithaca", by modern Greek poet Konstantinos P. Kavafis
