Our Mission

2Rapitenques Around The World is the project through which we want to acomplish our dream of traveling around the world. Our purpose is to discover other cultures and bring them closer to our town. Our philosophy is to learn from everything that we will find and at the same time share our idiosyncrasy. We strongly believe that we need to be open minded, tolerant and supportive to reach our objective. (Vane i Eva)

First destination: La Rapita-stopover Dublin-New Delhi

We are still at home while we are dropping these lines. However, it is very likely that we will be in our first destination when you read them. Everyone has told us different stories about India since we said we were going there.

Now, it is our turn to share with you some feelings, emotions, thoughts about this culture which we will take part very soon.

India is a country with religious tradition stressed by the Hinduism. Hinduism is known as Dharma (eternal religion) because it is said that it doesn’t have any beginning or end.

Considered as the second most populated country after China, it has significant cities as Mumbai, Calcutta, Chennai or New Delhi (being this last one its capital).

The most important heritance of the Hinduism is the castes system. This classifies the people based on its purity and divides them by communities. This factor determines a person from his birth and it is transferred generation through generation being impossible to change castes or even to mix among them. There are four types of castes: Brahamanas (priests and teachers), Ksatriyas (warriors and governors), Vaishyas (craftmans and merchants) and Sudras (countrymen and workers). There is also a fifth caste considered as the “impure”. They are known as the untouchables or Dalits (as they call themselves).
Those last ones are part of the lowest social status and often are insulted and victims of atrocity. Thinking about India make us wander about social status which are very important to understand the culture of this country; a fascinating as well as odd and distinctive world.

We still have lots of stories to tell you!!! But we can not start yet as it will be the destiny who will mark our trip.
Therefore we want to say goodbye!! We are going on our trip! Vane and Eva have committed with you to share day by day a trip, a dream … an Ithaca.

“You are a product of your environment. For this reason you can’t see beyond your habits and the social conventions that you are impregnated of. If you want to see beyond it, free yourself of the usual way that you interpret things”.

La Rapita and the World

The official presentation of our Project 2rapitenquesaroundtheworld took place last 11th of April with the participation of the Major Mr Miquel Alonso and the Tourism stage Rosa Anglès. Sponsors, family and friends were also present.
The ceremony started with the reading of the poem “Trip to Ithaca” by Paquita Ferrer. This continued with a speech by the Major and the Tourism stage manager. After, it was our turn. We started showing the video where we explain our philosophy and objectives. Then, we talked about the project and what it represents to us and to the city. We also showed the clothes, sponsored by Kalamatru, which we will be wearing during our trip. The ceremony ended with an appetizer granted by Pizzeria Bonsai. We would like to thank everyone for the support received.
We hope our trip becomes also your trip.La Rapita is going around the world.
