New Zealand and the Nymphs of the river

Note: Kia ora (Hi in Maori) guys!!! This time we let our imagination fly and we will do something completely different in our blog. The fantastic forests, valleys, mountains and lakes of New Zealand have enchanted us and we have decided to write a few stories mixing reality and fantasy. Many of the characters will be us and friends that have joined us on our travels in New Zealand but with a special touch of fantasy. We have gathered together the magic of our Delta (Ebro Delta) and New Zealand, two lands with lots of personality.

The main characters of this tale are gnomes, nymphs, wizards, warlocks ... a tale that we hope you enjoy and you leave the door open to imagination and forget the reality for a while... we hope you travel with us in this world of fantasy.

The tale of a trip around New Zealand....

"In these fields there are deep sources of the river, so deep that you can hardly see the end. In those, cool water emerges during the summer and in the middle of them beautiful flowers grow... the nymphs! They have white flowers and a golden star in the centre."

J. Martorell ,1926 ( Historian from Tortosa)

New Zealand and the Nymphs of the river.

Once upon a time there was a society who lived from the humid and fertile lands of their area, just beside the Delta (where the river ends up in the sea).

In the peaceful Mediterranean sea... that was where the Delta and the Alfacs Bay lay.

Every morning, at dawn, the sun rose from the sea horizon lighting the Delta until the sun rested on the back of the Montsia mountain.

It was here, in Sant Carles de la Rapita, where the sea and the mountain mix, in a land of fisherman and farmers. It was a land where its people were able to fight no matter what to protect their land.

The town was quite.... it seemed a normal day... but there was something happening this day...

It was a summer day, while everyone was in the central square celebrating the annual festival. Traditional songs and dances were performed as every year... they couldn't expect what was coming....

Suddenly... an horrific noise paralised the festival... a sever thunder was heard from the top of the "Foradada" (peak of the mountain) and a misterious voice was talking...

... it was the Margallo warlock... a hidden character who lives in a deep cave in the Montsia mountains. That day he decided to leave his cave and with a sever anger he invoked a wicked curse:

Trikitriii...trakatra....Rapitencs and Rapitenques... you woke me up with your songs and dances...

trikitriiii...trakatra... from my deep sleep you made me jump....

traaa...traaa..tra... you will pay for this ...

...in a very short period of time your Delta will dry up!! You won't have water anymore!!!

... your fields will become infertile and your sea will have no more fish!

Trikitriii...trakatraaa....

... this curse will be fulfilled !!!

The Margallo wizard brought his black magic and the town became cloudy in a few seconds.

With those words, the wizard with evil blood froze the joy and happiness of the village and fear and sadness overwhelmed all the citizens.

Everybody started to shout:

- How will we feed our families? The water of the river is our life... if it dries... what will we do with our fields? How are we gonna survive now?

All the citizens were very worried and scared ....

The chief gathered them... after a few hours discussing the issue a group of people exclaimed:

" Here we are Rapitencs!! We need to stand up!!! We need to fight this curse... the future of our land depends on it! The union makes the strenght!! Let's be all together and let's save our Delta!."

Those words sounded in every corner of the area... and it echoed in the magic source of the river where the spirits of the nature live. They suddenly woke up..

The little nymphs got out from the subterranian fountain when they perceived the worry and concern of the village...

The White ladies of the nature are the "Genius Loci" of the Delta. They are in charge of the protection of the land. They will have to react now!!

The water from the source of the river fed the nymphs' environment and the eucalyptus gave them the strength to fly. They are creatures of eternal life who spray the Delta with their beautiful scent and look after its people.

The nymphs quickly went to look for the representatives of the town... the Prince and Princess of the Trabucador.

... the nymphs listened very careful to the sweet words of the beauty princess...the princess Salina:

Salina(Princess of the Trabucador)- " You, Nymphs of the river, have the white magic. The magic which protects our land. You need to save our town and undo the curse from the evil Margallo warlock. Our trust relies on you. We will be supporting you from here.

The power of the Three Stars will protect you from the evil forces!!

Lligallo, the prince of the Trabucador, blessed the little nymphs wishing them the best of luck.

Right after those words the little creatures run to prepare their trip... a trip to undo the curse from the evil Margallo warlock.

The white ladies invoked all the forces of the nature and they received a reply from an Irish hobbit. He will guide them on their dangerous adventure.

They needed to go to Ireland where Frodo (name of the little hobbit) was waiting for them. Frodo was a tiny but clever gnome who was the guardian of the secret for eternal rain in Ireland. He would help the nymphs to find their destiny.

The joyful Frodo lived in a lake of county Wicklow. He had a marvellous glass palace. The little nymphs went there to gather with the hobbit.

They listened very carefully to the words of Frodo:

- "The forces of the nature have asked me to be your guide in order to protect you and guide you during this tough task. Our lands are united spiritually. The force of the Irish water will preserve the water of the Delta from the curse."

Right after his words, the little hobbit touched the lake water with his magic hands and the path that they had to follow was suddenly reflected in the crystal lake water. The force of the Irish water showed the place where they needed to go to undo the curse. It showed the land of the kiwis and the Maoris... New Zealand was waiting for them.

Two islands in the Pacific ocean who comprised one unique country where Frodo and the nymphs had to reach to follow their mission.

And flying and flying those 3 magic creatures crossed the world until they landed in New Zealand. A new adventure was waiting for them there.

It will continue....
